More than eighty undergraduates packed a Lillis Business Complex lecture hall to hear a group of professionals share their experiences in the worlds of investment and wealth management.
The standing-room-only discussion was part of Careers in Banking in Wealth Management, a Lundquist College Career Services event that took place in January 2014.
The evening's other panels—“Women in Banking and Finance" and “Careers in Operations and Management"—were also well attended.
Nearly all the panel participants were Lundquist College alumni. These included Kay Kowitt "80, deputy comptroller at the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency, who traveled all the way from Denver, Colorado, to take part in the event.
“Our goal for the evening was to showcase the wide the range of careers available in the financial world and give students an opportunity to delve deeper into specializations within the field," said Career Services Director Jane Evarian, who started at the college this past December and moderated the operations and management panel (read a Q&A with Evarian).
Once the panels wrapped up, students flocked to the Jubitz Atrium for a career expo featuring representatives from sixteen finance-related organizations. Morgan Stanley, Northwestern Mutual, KeyBank, Edward Jones, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation were among the national and regional organizations in attendance.
